In Helsingborg – my birthplace – there is this old church that I walked by a thousand times. I think I have visited the church about five times all in all. Yesterday I walked by it again, turned back and went inside.
The church – St Marys Church – is originally from the 12:th century. It has been changed and renovated numerous times over the years. Today it is the oldest church in Helsingborg.
Hanging from the roof are these ships. They are beautiful – some Danish flagged and some Swedish. I can’t help thinking about all the men that served in ships like this, back when they were part of their lands Naval forces. It must have been a hard life. Many prayers probably have been heard between these walls, calling for the safe return of the ships.
