Three of the Swedish Icebreakers at rest in the late summer evening. The three ships of the ”Atle-class” were built in the 1970:s and are soon to be replaced by new ships, if all goes according to plan.

When I was about ten years old, there was this tv-program about a reaserch journey to the North Pole with ”Ymer”. This was in the early 1980:s and obviously made quite an impression on me. ”Ymer” still has a special place in my heart…

The three old ships are majestic as they wait for new assignments in a couple of months, as the winter returns. Hope to make a visit on one of the ships before they retire. Met the Chief of the Icebreakers yesterday and he promised to arrange such a visit. I will of course bring my camera…
